The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is a 5-day intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the skills needed to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. The RCA course prepares you by helping you to actively listen, ask really good questions, and discover and manage your own stuff.
What is a Recovery Coach?
A Recovery Coach promotes recovery and removes barriers and obstacles to recovery, serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery from an addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs. What distinguishes a coach from other peer positions is that we stay in the lane of providing support for people in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other drugs.

When you submit your evaluations you will receive both CPD and CCAR certificates- giving you 30 CEU's (Continuing Education Hours) and 30 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Hours.

Who can attend the Recovery Coach Academy course?
There are no prerequisites to joining this course. All you need is an interest and passion for Recovery Coaching. The course is suitable for:
- Anyone interested in gaining an understanding of the recovery coaching field.
- Anyone who wants to help build recovery capital.
- Anyone with real lived experience, who wants to support others.
- Anyone in the drug services with a desire to learn new pathways to support recovery.

How does it work?

Sign up
You will receive access to our online Portal and student community the day you sign up. You will also be able to attend all student networking sessions and meetings too!

Pre work
A component of each course is made up of Pre work. You will need your training manual to help you complete your work.

Live Sessions
Each course includes LIVE sessions via Zoom. Please mark the LIVE course dates in your calendar. We will also send you reminders before each course.

Evaluation
Once you've completed your Prework and attended all sessions, you can submit your evaluation. We will then send you your certificates!

Below we have answered some common questions to help you decide if the RCA course is right for you:
When does the course start?
The RCA course starts on Thursday 9th June, then each Thursday until July 7th. From 13:00-17:15 UK time.
How long does it take to complete the RCA course?
The course is run over 5 weeks, with 2 hours of Prework in total.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes! When you click to checkout you can select the 3x split monthly payment option.
Is the course certified?
YES! All our training courses are CCAR (Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery) certified. This course is CPD certified too. We are the first and only organisation to be CCAR and CPD certified in the UK.
What do I need before joining this course?
There are no prerequisites to joining our training programmes. All you need is a passion and interest for Recovery Coaching!
When will I receive my training manuals?
We will order your training manuals 2 weeks before the course date. This means you can prepare yourself for the sessions and complete your Prework. If you don't receive your manual 1 week before your course date please let us know and we will make sure to get one to you!
How do the LIVE sessions work?
All of our LIVE sessions are held via Zoom. On the first day of training we will be live half an hour before the session time (feel free to drop in and test your Zoom!) During the session there is LIVE training, breakout rooms with your peers and discussions. We make sure to keep our training interactive, with breaks to allow you to get a drink, use the restroom, etc..
I can't make one of the training dates. What should I do?
If you can't make a training date for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible at support@recoverycoachacademy.co.uk. We will do our best to ensure you get your live training to complete your course.
